The Saved of The Tribulation Period.

Revelation 7:1-3

A. The remnant Out Of Israel Sealed.

    1. Scaled out of the Twelve Tribes

The four angels holding the four winds of heaven Verse 1.

This chapter, coming between the Sixth and Seventh Seals, seems to be a part of the Sixth Sea!, contrasting the Happy Lot of the Elect with the Fearful Doom of the World out of which they were called, as just described in the closing verses of chapter 6,

    • a. 144,000 is the square of 12, multiplied a thousandfold, and is thought to be understood, not numerically, but symbolically, representing the Sum Total of the Elect of Israel, the First fruits of the Gospel; or, the Sum Total of Christians.

The angel with the seal of the living God, and sealing the servants of God out of the twelve tribes, whose number amounted to one hundred and forty-four thousand Verses 2-8.

  • b. "The Four Winds", 7:1-3, seem to be the agencies of the Lamb's Wrath, just mentioned in 6:16, and identical with the Seven Trumpets soon to follow, held back until the Sealing of the Elect is finished.

  • c. "The Sealing of God's Servants", 7:3, seems to refer to the process of Evangelization going on, in the Roman Empire, before it fell; or, in the Whole World, throughout the Whole Course of History, before the Final Day of the Lamb's Wrath.

    B. The Great Multitude in Heaven

    Revelation 7:8-17

    • a. The "144,000", of verse 4, and the "Great Multitude", of verse 9, seem to be two separate groups. One is the Elect of Israel. The other is from All Nations. With one group the scene was on Earth. With the other the scene is in Heaven. One group was sealed against a Coming Tribulation. With the other group, the Tribulation is Past.

Yet they may be One and the Same group, under different aspects.

    • b. One relates to the Call, or "Sealing" period, on Earth, while the other relates to the period of Victorious Blessedness in Heaven: the 144,000 of the Elect of Israel, turning out, in full fruition, to be the Great Multitude from Every Nation.

    • c. The blood-washed throng, safe at last in the Father's Home, as against the Day of Wrath on Earth, 6:16, is the Answer to the Martyrs' Cry,

        Revelation 6:10.

        – Arrayed in white Robes.
        – Palms in their hands.
        – Songs on theirlips.
        – They hunger no more.
        – All tears wiped away.
        – In the Land where
        – Fountains are Forever flowing with Living Waters.

    • EVANGELISTIC ACTIVITY BEFORE THE 7TH SEAL OPENED

    C. Vision of the Gentiles

Besides these, there was an innumerable multitude from all nations, who gave glory to God and the Lamb Verses 9-12.

One of the elders shows who these are, and describes their most happy state Verses 13-17.
