The Martin Burton Craig Family at their 60th Wedding Anniversary, Parkwood, PA. M B Craig is a descendant of John Craig. John came to America and worked for his brother Henry for a time in Philadelphia, PA Martin was born Jan 10, 1885, and died August 16, 1966 at 81.6 yrs. Buried at Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA Bert was a farmer and coal miner. He worked in the coal mines at McIntyre for 21 1/2 years. He belonged to local McIntyre United Miners Workeers Union. For An Index on Western Pennsylvania Coal Mining And Its History Click On This Link. After he retired from the coal mines, he spent time in fruit and Christmas Tree farming.

    Today, while surfing on the Internet, I came across this poem. It brought a lump to my throat. Here lie 11 infants. Fleming infants. The stone only reports "11 Fleming Infants." All else that is seen on the stone is a straggling line beneath the words - - as though that is all that was important.

    I think differently. The little stone demands at least a WHO? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN? HOWCOME? . . . What could they have become? What caused their death? Whose were they? Mom & Dad . . . Who? Just thought I'd pass it along. Poem, "The Recording Of A Cemetery" by Thelma Grenne Reagian.

Being that it dates sometime around the close of World War 2, I believe that it came from Kent School and the school systems attempt to relax the resentment children felt about children of other nationalities.
