August 24, 2003; Newport News, VA Like any other day I awoke and with Glenda visiting her sister and cousin in North Carolina it was my thought to make some changes in our Family Tree software and repair some Web Pages I'd worked on yesterday. About 10:30 AM I got a call from Ryan Craig, my grandson, and he ask if I'd like to come over and "Hang-Out" a while. Without a pause, "I'd be delighted to "hang-out" a day with you, Ryan."
So, I finished up a few things and gathered up my camera and drove across Newport News to Roger's house. Roger was busy cutting a piece of steel he needed to make a bracket to support the Air Conditioner compressor in a F150 Truck he is restoring. It all turned out right – as it usually does with Roger (although he lacks patience). Photos 533 through 539 show him working in his shop.
Photo 540 and 541 is of his shop that is in a wooded area at the back of him home. In Photo 541 shows the back of Roger's 1986/7 Olds Cutlass Supreme completely restored and looks as though it was just driven off the show room floor. Not a wrinkle or spot on it, new glass and new inside roof. The color of the upholstery is a deep dark blue and not a tare anywhere. In photo 541 to right sits Pop's old Yamaha ~ Glenda and I traveled over 50,000 miles on that bike. We covered most of Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and some of Utah. In 1992 and 93 we drove around a good part of South and West Texas with it. Roger got it from us in 1995 and nothing much has been done with it since.
Photo 542 is taken in Rogers back yard. There are so many really tall trees that making a good photograph is difficult. The sun shines through in spots and that seems to really mess up the pictures.
Photo 543 is more of Roger's back yard, Chopper at the bottom left, the green F100 truck is mine and needs to be re-restored (again) and behind it is Roger's Camper.
Photo 544 is looking across the yard and Chopper laying down.
Photo 545 brings Chopper to rapt attention. Roger is carrying the pork chops back to the grill and Chopper always know when food is on the way.
Photo 546 if you look real close you can see "Tinker Bell," Kristal's kitten – Chopper nearly went through the window when he first spotted the kitten.
Photo 547 and 548 is Pop, Chopper and Roger's ‘hot-dog' dog, Maxi. We spent much of the afternoon keeping these two apart. Yap, yap, yap. And Chopper looked with some interest. One bite, Chopper was thinking, and you would be history."
Photos 549 through 555 shows much of this exchange ~ Chopper & Maxi.
