October 8, 2004 (25 days to Election Day) ---------------------------- Theme: Leadership From God Verse: "Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens" (Exodus 18:21). Prayer Point: Pray that God's people would elect righteous leaders for this land locally, statewide, and nationally. Quote: "If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honour of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation." -- Samuel Adams, letter to Elbridge Gerry, November 27, 1780. ---------------------------- October 9, 2004 (24 days to Election Day) ---------------------------- Theme: The Supreme Ruler Over All Creation! Verse: "The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all" (Psalm 103:19). Prayer Point: Praise God for His Sovereignty and Supremacy; for it is He who determines the future of all things, including our nation! Quote: "I have lived, Sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this Truth, that God governs in the Affairs of Men. And if a Sparrow cannot fall to the Ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid?" -- Benjamin Franklin, Motion for Prayers in the Constitutional Convention, June 28, 1787. ---------------------------- October 10, 2004 (23 days to Election Day) ---------------------------- Theme: Discernment Verse: "My son, let them not depart from your eyes--Keep sound wisdom and discretion" (Proverbs 3:21). Prayer Point: Pray for a wise and informed electorate and ask God to give us the ability to discern. Quote: "In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened." -- George Washington, Farewell Address, September 19, 1796. ---------------------------- October 11, 2004 (22 days to Election Day) ---------------------------- Theme: Zealousness in all that we do! Verse: "Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world" (Philippians 2:14-15 NASB). Prayer Point: Pray that Christians would spend time registering other Christians to vote and informing others of the significance of the issues before us. Quote: "Work as if you were to live 100 Years, Pray as if you were to die Tomorrow." -- Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack, 1757. God did not intend for us to be all rich, beautiful, or great; but he does intend for us all to be friends. PRAY! PRAY! PRAY! The results of this election will be lived for many years to come. It was difficult for America to get over the likes of Bill Clinton. Remember . . . Paul's church of Corinth no longer lives. The 7 churches Paul began in what is now Turkey no longer exists. Sin blotted them out! NOTE: It may well do for us to understand that God never promised us that we would be guarenteed a Christian Country. America has been blessed by God. America is starting to turn its back on God. It may be time in history when God turns his back on America. I know this. It was my wishes though that I would not live to see this happen. Anyone that can listen to the Socialist Democerat side of issues and even consider electing the likes of John Kerry as president of this United States may well find that Kerry could be the last president of America (as we know it). ~ Bob C
