SOUND OFF!

Anti-war petitions have started to appear in my email as of late, each telling the horror of war, and how it must be prevented at all costs. And I wonder.

Why do pacifist think only President Bush can stop the war? Where are their protests over Saddam Hussein’s failure to work with the UN inspectors? Where are their supporting facts that Mr. Hussein is doing any thing at all to avoid war? Where are the petitions to Iraq to stop this war? I see none of this, only Americans saying we, the USA need to leave Mr. Hussein alone, and for me, that equates to SUPPORTING Iraq and Mr. Hussein’s dictatorship.

Rather than asking Mr. Hussein to prove he is worthy of intervention, pacifist demand sensitive and top secret information from the United States. Surely they must know that once such information is in the public domain, the source can be pinpointed, and eliminated. That only helps Iraq in the long run, and may jeopardize American lives along the way. But does this matter? Apparently, not at all.

On the news, it seems nightly, that some country or another, is standing up in defense of Iraq. And I can only wonder. Why would anyone support a bully? The only reason I come up with is, they believe they the United States might be swayed by public opinion, and they know for a fact, that Iraq simply does not care.

No amount of protests will bring any change to the government of Iraq. If there were a anti-Iraq/Saddam protest that was attended by 90 percent of the world’s population, it would not mean one thing to the government of Iraq. They would go as before. For that reason, I assume that is why there are no anti-war petitions going to Mr. Hussein asking he work with the UN inspectors, or accept exile.

You don’t want this war? Well neither do I, however, I also do not want terrorist, bullies, to have run of this world. I never want another Sept. 11, 2001. Some times, one must simply stand up and say no more. President Bush and our allies are simply saying NO MORE!

If you feel as I do, then please pass this along. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so we, those who support President Bush must squeak louder than those who support Iraq. I am not asking you to sign this, just send it on. If each person that agrees with me, sends this to congress, they will hear us loud and clear.

Two links I have found useful on Iraq:

Iraq Watch is a comprehensive web site devoted to monitoring Iraq's progress in building weapons of mass destruction. Iraq Watch describes key Iraqi organizations and sites, lists their foreign suppliers, and provides access to U.N. and other documents that describe Iraq's activities.
